Any dry stretch works. We roof in Stites year round, though we schedule shingle work for when it is warm enough for the strips to seal properly, and we watch the forecast so your house is never left open overnight.
Sometimes. If the decking is sound and there is only one layer of shingles, a Stites metal roof can go over the top on purlins. If there is rot underneath or two layers already on, we tear off first — and we will tell you that before you sign, not halfway through.
Most Stites houses are a two to four day job. A straightforward shingle roof can be done in a day or two. A cut up metal roof takes longer because every panel, valley and trim piece is measured and fit on site rather than pulled out of a box.
Much less than people expect. Over solid decking with underlayment under it, a Stites metal roof sounds about like a shingle roof from inside the house. The loud tin roof people remember was screwed straight to open purlins over a barn with nothing underneath.
Often, yes. Plenty of the Stites roofs we get called to look at need flashing reworked or a section refastened, not a whole new roof. We will tell you honestly which one you are looking at, and if it is repairable we would rather repair it.
